All fans must be really very curious that what is going to happen in the upcoming months. How these ICC events are scheduled and where they will be played. Here are the big cricketing events till the year 2023 which will be the final year of the broadcasting cycle.
1) Indian Premier League 2020 – United Arab Emirates (19 September – 10 November 2020)
After the postponement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, BCCI got the opportunity to organise the 13th season of the IPL which was scheduled to start from 29 March 2020 but was postponed till further notice. The entire event will be played in the UAE and the broadcasters are hoping for big viewership this year as there has no cricket played for a long period of time and for the first time IPL is being played in the festive season.
1) ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 – New Zealand (7 February – 7 March 2021)
The 12th edition of the 50-Over Women’s Cricket World Cup will be played in New Zealand earlier next year. The last edition was won by England at home when they defeated India at the Lord’s. This new edition will only have 8 teams.
2)Indian Premier League 2021 – India (April – May 2021)
We will get to see another IPL season in the span of only 5 months which will surely be a treat for the T20 fans. The season will be played in India if hopefully, the COVID-19 situation gets under control in the country in the future.
3) Asia Cup 2021 – Sri Lanka ( June 2021)
As the Asia Cup was cancelled, the Asian Cricket Board has decided to shift it to June 2021. This Asia Cup will be played in the T20 Format. The original hosting rights were with Pakistan but the gave it to Sri Lanka looking at the Covid-19 pandemic.
4) ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Australia or India (October – 14 November 2021)
As the T20 World Cup was postponed by the ICC, it is now scheduled to be played in late 2021. The hosting rights are not confirmed as there were two T20 World Cups scheduled to be played in 2020 and 2021. But as the 2020 edition which was going to be played in Australia got postponed,
And India had the hosting rights for the 2021 edition, it is not confirmed yet that which country will host the 2021 and 2022 world cup. Both BCCI and ACB want to host the 2021 edition.
1) ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022 – West Indies (January 2022)
The 14th Edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup will be played atthe beginning of 2022 in West Indies. 16 teams will participate in the event.
2) ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2022 – South Africa (February – March 2022)
The T20 edition of the Women’s World cup will be hosted by South Africa. The previous edition was played this year in Australia and the final was played at the iconic MCG were around 85,000 watches the final played between India and Australia.
3) Indian Premier League 2022 – India (April – May 2022)
This will edition will mark 15 years of the Indian Premier League.4)Asia Cup 2022 – Pakistan (June 2022)As it was decided by the PCB after giving hosting rights to Sri Lanka they will next to the next edition so 2022 Asia Cup will be played in Pakistan. Though looking at the relations between India and Pakistan it is very unlikely that India will play in Pakistan.
5) ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 – India or Australia (Oct – 14 November 2022)
As it’s not sure that Who will host the 2021 T20 World Cup, the hosting of 2022 is also a mystery. The Final will be played on 14 November 2022.
1) Indian Premier League 2023 – India (April – May 2023)
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League will be played.
2) ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 – India (October – 26 November 2023)
The biggest cricket event 50-Over Men’s Cricket World Cup will be played in late 2023 and will be hosted by India. Last time India hosted a Cricket World Cup in 2011 and were crowned as the World Champions. So many people are looking forward to this event. CWC 2023 was initially scheduled to be played in February – March 2023 but due to Covid-19 when ICC decided to postpone the T20 World Cup to October – November 2022 to maintain a 1-year gap between two ICC events it was postponed to late 2023. These were the big cricketing events which are scheduled to be played in the next three years
